This workshop is not for photographers. It's for those who want to stay in front, rather than behind a camera.
From the project Anatomia di un Amore by the photographer Olga Amendola, stems a workshop dedicated to those who want to come to terms with the camera, as the subject of a portrait, guided by the need of loving one self and their own body, without fearing judgment of the photographer and the viewer.
Anatomia di un amore is a photographic project that helps the participants to make justice to their imperfections.
The photos taken during this workshop want to teach to understand, forgive and find ourselves.
Anatomia di un amore is inspired by a philosophical concept of Heidegger: the cure (in German Besorgen) which says: "The authentic cure is the conscious one; which helps others to take care of themselves and thus be free to achieve their being"
Why the words Anatomia and di un amore? Because it's important to be in love with each part of our bodies, even the most inconvenient ones, creating a love story with ourselves.
This project wants to become a collection of bodies, stories of different awareness of feelings. The course is open to any kind of woman, to drop any aesthetical norms that, in photography, are often very rigid and, without us even realizing it, spoil our look, affecting our judgments from woman to woman.
Anatomia di un amore wants to be a photographic look free of canons, looking at the other with empathy, looking for beauty in every imperfection.
We want to take a body apart by photo, to give it its integrity. The very same body our parents gave us, it's up to us to love it in order to make others love it too.
The first part of the workshop will be focused on theory, exploring the evolution of aesthetical canons in history, what do we mean with beautiful in the modern photographic language and we will face themes regarding the other side of the coin.
The second part of the workshop will be a private shooting session with the photographer and teacher, during which you will be given the opportunity to explore yourself and your body as subjects, as an expression of absolute beauty made of all the peculiarity of your body. Where a flaw can become a distinctive sign of our uniqueness.
The workshop will be held on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th October, from 10am to 7pm.
